8th Annual State of Our Children Breakfast

The Children’s Movement (TCM) State of Our Children Breakfast brings together more than 600 community stakeholders to celebrate the impacts of our collective work, and to embrace the challenges that remain. Since 2011 this annual event has drawn representatives from education, health, housing, justice, non-profit, local government, business, and philanthropy. The SOOC Breakfast includes an entertaining and meaningful program that highlights the good work being done in the community together with an inspiring, thought-provoking keynote address.

This year’s breakfast promises to be very special.

First, we will be presenting the completed Preconception - Age 5 Blueprint for Funding and Advocacy to our TCM community. This plan represents the most comprehensive effort ever undertaken to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young children and their families in Fresno County. We are going to celebrate this monumental achievement and set the stage for implementing the work in the months ahead!

Second, we are delighted to host David Lawrence, Jr. as our keynote speaker once again. David founded The Children’s Movement of Florida and provided the initial inspiration for launching TCM in Fresno. He was the speaker at our very first breakfast and has dedicated the past twenty plus years to making children a priority in his community. His memoir “A Dedicated Life: Journalism, Justice and a Chance for Every Child” has just been published and signed copies will be available at the breakfast. The book highlights his early years, career in journalism, and passion for making a difference. David ends every chapter with insights gleaned throughout a lifetime of devotion to family, community, and faith.
